Collection templates
A template is a location plus its expected bins, a reset schedule, assigned collectors and a QR code. You cannot record a collection without one.
A template is the heart of the product: one location, the bins expected there, and who collects them. Open Templates and choose Create Template.
What a template holds
- Site, Building, Floor Type and Room Type — all four required. Building only unlocks once you pick a site.
- Waste Types, each with a quantity — this is what creates the bins. "General Waste × 2, Recycling × 1" gives you Bin #1, #2 and #3.
- Name and description — the name is generated for you unless you type one.
- A reset schedule — how long after emptying before the bin is due again.
- Assigned collectors — only assigned people can record against it, and only they see it in their list.
- A QR code — print it, stick it on the bin, and collectors can scan straight into the right template.
Bins come from quantities
There is no separate bin to create or name. Bins are numbered slots generated from your waste-type quantities, which is why changing a quantity changes the bins.
The reset cycle
After a bin is emptied it stays visible as Emptied until the reset moves it back to Check bin. The default of 12 hours matches most teams' daily cadence — set it to match how often you actually attend.
Only templates that are due appear in the collection wizard, so the reset schedule is what controls your collectors' worklist.
QR codes
Print them from the template, or grab the lot at once with All QR codes (ZIP) on the Templates page. Scanning is much faster than searching, and it removes the "recorded against the wrong bin" class of mistake entirely.
Keeping them current
When a location changes its bins, update the template. A stale template is worse than none, because people trust it.
