Understanding compliance
Compliance is the share of recorded collections marked compliant. Bins nobody recorded are not counted at all — they cannot lower your rate.
The Compliance page tracks how often collections meet your bin standards, and lets you dig into why the rest fall short.
How it is calculated
It is simply: collections marked compliant ÷ all recorded collections.
Nothing else goes into it. A collection is compliant unless the collector turned the Compliant collection? switch off and gave a reason.
The thing to understand about this number
Only recorded collections count. There is no notion of a collection that was expected but never happened — a bin nobody attended is not in the maths at all.
So a skipped bin does not lower your compliance rate. It just is not there. Which means a near-perfect rate can mean your collections are clean, or it can mean people are only recording the easy ones.
If your rate looks better than the reality your collectors describe, that is the first thing to check.
Reading the breakdown
The headline percentage is the least useful part. The breakdown by reason is what you act on: contamination is a behaviour problem, blocked access is a logistics problem, and they need completely different responses even at the same percentage.
Who sees it
Owners and managers.
