Flagging a non-compliant collection

A bin you could not empty properly is flagged, not skipped: turn off the Compliant collection? switch, choose a reason, and add a photo.

Recording collections 3 min read

When something is wrong with a bin — the wrong stream in it, it is overflowing, you could not get to it — you record it on the Compliance step of the collection wizard.

How

  1. Turn Compliant collection? off.
  2. Choose a reason from the dropdown.
  3. Add at least one photo. This is required — you cannot submit a non-compliant collection without one, and you can attach up to five.

The photo requirement is deliberate. A reason on its own is one person's word; a photo is evidence, and it is what makes the flag worth something to whoever reads the report.

If the reason you need is not listed

The list is maintained by your owner or manager under Waste Hub → Settings. See Non-compliance reasons.

If the dropdown is completely empty, nobody has configured any reasons yet — ask an admin to add them.

Record it, do not skip it

A bin you never record simply is not there. It does not lower your compliance rate and it does not appear in any report — the problem becomes invisible rather than measured.

Flagging it is what turns "the bins at this site are always contaminated" from a complaint into something with dates, photos and a number attached. See Understanding compliance.
