Getting started

Everything hangs off a template. Build your sites, buildings, floor and room types and waste types first — then a template — then you can record.

Getting started 4 min read

Waste Metrics Pro is built around the template. A template is a location plus the bins expected at it, and you cannot record a collection without one. Everything below exists to make templates possible.

The order matters

A template requires a site, a building, a floor type, a room type and at least one waste type — all of them. So set them up in this order:

  1. Sites — your contracts. See Sites and buildings.
  2. Buildings — each one belongs to a site.
  3. Floor Types and Room Types — reusable labels like "Level 3" or "Kitchen". See Floor and room types.
  4. Waste Types — the streams you collect. See Waste types.
  5. Templates — assemble the above into a real location with bins. See Collection templates.

Skip a step and the template form will not let you save.

Then record

Open Collections and choose Record collection. See Recording a collection.

Then the numbers start working

Once collections are flowing, Analytics, Compliance, Smart Forecast and GHG Reporting all have something to work with.

Calibrate once you have real weights

After a few weeks of scale weights, Calibration will suggest better typical weights so your estimates match your actual bins.
